Cage size

Hey everyone, I need some help. I am going to be building a cage for my burm. He is 34 1/2 inches right now and has had no issues with moving from a 10 gallon to a 75 gallon aquarium. He is always eating and was wondering if the cage which will be 6ft long,3ft wide and 1ft 3 in. high. About how long should this last him? I was thinking around 9-12ft. Does anyone think his size to the cage size will affect his feeding response in any way? thx for anyone's help.
