The question is, how limited are your funds. You can pick up a male pastel and male yellow-belly for around $800. Granted the pastel won't be the best but when put with that super gold female the babies will be stunners. Also are your plans to just produce a few pastels and yb's to keep as pets or to build up a collection for selling? For a few pretty pet ball pythons I'd go with the pastel. If you want to build up a collection than I'd go with the YB first as you could hold back almost all the females you produce and make some ivories that have a much higher trade value and market appeal than pastel's and super pastel's which will help you more in the long run. Now what I'd do if I were you is to save your money till next year and buy a vanilla from me, lol j/k. But in all seriousness, both pastel's and YB's have a very good future in the reptiles biz, pastel's for what they are and YB's for what they can do. Hope this helps some and if not I'm sorry for rambling, lol. Here's a pic of my 05 pastel male, he's a stunner for sure.
