In my opinion it all depends on your intentions. If you want to produce pieds as soon as possible, you'll need to start your female(s). Whether het or pied, as they take longer to get up to size. If you choose a male pied you'll only produce hets unless you already have a het female (which female 100% hets cost between $1000-1200). If you choose a female pied, you can work on getting her up to size and get your male het ($200)later. However, if you do go with the male you have alot more options and can breed him multiple times to different females and after about a year of age just produce your own hets.
