someone that I know uses under tank heaters, and plastic sterilite containers. He sticks the heat pad to the shelf that the container sits on. Also, only the back part of the container is on the pad, that way the snake can go to the front if it is hot. You could also buy a thermostat that the heat pad plugs into, that way when it gets too hot, it will shut off. If you set it up this way, I suggest setting it up first and seeing if it works before putting the snake in it. Good luck
