The pictures of the set included a newborn and a older pic of the same Boxie.



It is a T.c. bauri aka Florida Box Turtle. They are captive bred and I have developed them for hardiness and bold patterns. I've had a small colony for

20 plus years.



Florida Box Turtles are our rarest native box turtles, our smallest when full grown (8 inch body length), and the most docile. They do not need cold temps to induce fertile eggs or live sperm as do the other subspecies...Nor do they hibernate like their cousins. They need high humidity and can withstand higher temps than their other sub species. They are also more carnivorous with respect to their diet. Most of their natural habitat is in Florida , Southwest Georgia, and very small tracts of Louisiana. Their numbers have been severely decimated by extreme development, eight consecutive years of large fires in Florida, intentional road killing ( as is still the fad with many young southerners), pet collectors, long periods of drought and the South American Fire Ants (being extremely prevalent in Florida).



I also have developed a Dwarf Variety of The Florida Box Turtle (really small with all the bold pattern and hardiness) which breeds true and reaches a length of only 5 inches full grown. No pics of this variety have yet been posted. I plan to post some in the near future.
