The only thing I can think of, if they are large enough not to be ingested, is that it might be awkward for them to crawl across a floor of pebbles. If you want something a little more natural, look around for some slate tile or even regular house tile flipped backwards. Also, I don't have a step-by-step on one of these, but some people make a painted, foam inserts(Custom made to fit right into the tank size) that looks/feels like rugged, compact earth which is more like what they live on naturally. Hopefully someone else will have done this and can provide you with a step-by-step guide. Good luck.
