Making a cage. Got questions.

I wanna try my hand at building a cage. I was thinking about using long shallow rubbermaid containers for the bottom to hold the substrate. i would get plywood for the back and sides. And I would use acrylic for the front. I'd get mesh wiring for my lid. Does this sound like itll work? I want it to be light weight.

Do any of you know where I can find all different size rubbermaids? The local Target has some but they dont have a huge selection.



Would it be difficult to maybe add a hinged door on the front?



How long does wood last before it starts to rot? i figured the rubbermaid container would help keep the moist substrate off of the wood.

My big question: Is there much of a risk of fire if I have the heat lamp aiming down on wood all day?



i just have to figure out how to connect everything and i think ill be set. let me know what you guys think. thanks!
