I love white-lips, but they are probably one of the most high strung boids out there. There are fast, flighty and bite without hesitation. A few captive born babies can be raised to be handleable, but you never trust them. I have watched cb baby white-lips striking at hooks and even the shadows cast by hooks. They are gorgeous, but not something I would recommend to someone looking for a tame boid.
There are several good canditates in that range, although babies of many of the species have to be handled with care until you get to know them. Some that come to mind are..
Childrens/Spotted Pythons (gnerally under 5 feet though)
Rainbow Boas (beautiful, generally docile, 5-7 feet, fairly slender)
Jungle Carpets (babies are sometimes nippy)
Dumeril's Boa (might be a bit heavy bodied)
Boa Constrictor (again, might be too heavy bodied) ----- Chris Harrison
