Tony,
The breeder was uninformed if they ship overnight through the Post Office. The Post Office cannot guarantee overnight deliveries.
The main reason is that they do not have their own planes - so they sub-contract the overnight shipments to a carrier that does (FedEx, Airborn/DHL). If the flight is crowded with their own shipments, then the sub-contracted items stay behind.
This is nothing new - been going on for years and years. The post office sends it to the carrier, then the carrier sends it back to the post office - then it goes out for delivery to the recipient.
Peace of mind is a using an overnight service that can TRACK the shipment. The post office cannot track it if they don't have it in their possession!
I sure hope your babies make it.
The best thing upon arrival, is a lengthy luke-warm soaking. They can absorb moisture into their systems and then rest. Depending on the age - they may or may not eat for a bit. If they were exposed to a lot of heat, I would keep the basking lights off for a day or so.
Let us know what happens.
Morgana,
