I need a new camera

I have a Nikon Coolpix 950 that is many years old. It also eats batteries.



Today I dropped it hard, it makes the same sound as the car antenna did when the gear was stripped. I don't know if it is worth fixing.



I want to get another camera. I don't want to go for a SLR. I want to get a good point and shoot that will also do close ups. My old camera does have a macro setting which came in handy for baby eyelash vipers, but I don't know if it is necessary for balls.
