What color should my Tamatave really be?

Stupid question, I know-but after seeing Cadbury and now my own Cherry Bomb, had I not put him outside in the heat while I was changing the cages from baby caging to adult caging, I wouldn't even know he was red. What darn color is he supposed to be when he's healthy and happy? If he turns red does that mean I've done something to upset him? He is pretty agressive, but once I get him calmed down he'll let me take him out of the cage to go to his outdoor cage. When he's hissing and biting at me he puffs up, but doesn't really change color much. I know I'm an idiot, but put me out of my misery and tell me what color he's supposed to be, PLEASE!
