I've bred ringneck doves that by pedigree and breeding test were heterozygous for eight different mutants. There are approximately approximately 20,000 gene pairs in humans, which gives a possible upper limit of approximately 20,000 gene pairs that could be heterozygous. I don't know how many gene pairs a boa constrictor has, but it must be over 10,000. Heterozygosity is as common as dirt. The trick is to identify the gene pairs.
