RE: Salvadora, Patch-Nosed Snakes?

Have yet to see one in the wild. Another of our (CA) native herps I am extremely interested in. I think last year @ our exhibit, somebody from the herp club I belong to had one. Neat looking snake. Again, the question is posed, why do some snakes gain so much popularity in the pet trade, and not others that are in most aspects quite similar to the popular firmly established ones?
