It depends on the length of the snake. 
A rule of thumb I use, is to feed a rat that's about the size of the snake's girth at its widest point. I have an '06 hatchling who's eating rat fuzzies with their eyes still closed.. with smaller snakes, it seems to be better to feed something a little too small so that it isn't as big and scary.  ----- 2.3 Ball Pythons

0.1 albino Cranwell's horned frog
1.1 breeding Clawed frogs
1.0 black cat
0.2 paint mares, 1.1 paint foals
Also have fancy goldfish, african cichlids, and rats.
