I'm not telling any of you guys what to see. Nor am I critisizing anyone (except maybe the authors). By all means, watch it if you want.
I wouldn't call myself an alarmist either. Despite the movie, there are still plenty of dumb people out there. I doubt the movie will make a HUGE difference.
BUT by taking a stand, I know there WILL be a small number of people who see me boycotting (most notably my students) the movie. They will ask why I am doing it and I will state the same thing I have already said: Its a misrepresentation of the snake.
I'm also very certain those people will listen to me and realise the truth that snakes are beautiful animals and NOT monsters that 'hunt' and 'attack' people.
If my refusal to spend $10 on a simple movie saves just one wild animal from human ignorance and arrogance, then I will be content.
I'll consider it the equivalent to a donation to a wildlife santuary or educational buisness.
