Chris, I would answer that in a slightly different way and say that the Blood mutation is a Central American locality mutation that to date has been seen in snakes collected both from El Salvador and Nicaragua. In the same way, we can say the Central American Type 2 Anery has been seen in snakes collected from Nicaragua, Panama, Mexico and probably a few other locations.
I think its incorrect to suggest that any specific location is the only “pure” location for what is probably a Central American regional locality mutation.
Of course a total separate discussion could be held around how accurate (or not), most data is we have related to so called locality specific mutations …… but that’s another whole discussion
