I guess to add somemore.... When you probe you put the probe in toward the tip of the tail, don't go in toward the head!! Also with being gentle, be sure that your grip on the probe is loose so that if the snake jumps or squirms that the probe will slide through your fingers instead of holding on firmly and stabbing the snake!! If you can learn to "pop" young snakes, its usually quite a bit easier and quicker!!
