If they turn darkish grey or brown, it is usually a sign of stress. A good indicator is to look at the bottom of their undersides. If its clear and white, that usually means that they're happy. If it has dark grey or brown lines, something is stressing them out. Trying to figure out what is stressing them out takes some work. I will try and post some pictures when I get a chance. Hope this helps.
