Very often in apartments, the closets don't have heat vents. If you can find a closet without heat, you can put them in the closet and try to leave it closed as much as possible in the winter.

It doesn't take three months for most species. You can generally get by with 8 weeks of brumation and two weeks on either side for cooling down and warming up.
