I'm certainly no expert, but I think as long as they have enough space to do their own thing and you never feed them together, it shouldn't be an issue. I have my two males together, and there's never been any trouble with them being housed that way. Definitely get them sexed, though.. I hear 2 years is generally a time to start breeding (if the size is right), but that they will go ahead and do it on their own before that some times, which is unhealthy for a too-small female.
