I wonder if it has to do with those durned interwebs...
Heh heh. Seems like there are a lot of people now who get very anxious and upset if they email a business and do not get a reply within a few minutes or even within a few hours, and rather than pick up a phone (most people's emails don't "ring" when they are sent...), complain instantly that they "can't get hold of" the business at all. A phone rings - a person who might be cleaning cages or building cages will go and answer it, or hear it ring and return the call within a few minutes - the same person might not check email except once or twice per day (and face it, telemarketers are easy to identify on the phone ... rather than sifting through hundreds of email spam).
I usually use a week as a rule of thumb - if I send an email to a business and does not get responded to within a week after I sent it (AND the reason for contact wasn't urgent enough to need to deal with it in less than a week), I send a followup email and then call a day later if I still get no reply. Yes, people do have email problems. There are so many spam blacklists now that some people's email hosts are automatically blocked by other ISPs (happened to me with Dreamhost). Which makes the phone the most reliable method of QUICK communication. ----- Lauren Madar www.ophidiagems.com 1.1 Hog Island Boas 1.1 Hypo BCI 0.1 Sorong-type GTP 1.0 Normal Ball Python
