I have seen black around part of the pupil in some of my amels or snow and I always wondered if it was some sort of congenital cataract. I had never seen it completely circle the pupil like in your photo though! When I saw that I doubted the cataract theory very much since if it completely encirceld it I would have expected the whole pupil to look shaded or black.

It certainly does not seem to affect the health or eating of the few snakes I have seen it in.
