She has a prolapsed rectum (found out about it last night, but had been holding her earlier in the day and she was fine so it hasnt been too long like this) and it seems to have gone back in some of the way over night. Sense I found it I have kept her in a smaller enclosure with only slightly moistened papertowels so that the area stays clean and cannot get injured any more. I have only heard of one other case where the rectum prolapsed in a snake and it was much worse off that she appears to be (that ones was out about two or three inches, hers is just sitting in the opening of the cloaca). Is there much else I can do? I dont want to push on it because I am sure it must be uncomfortable and I dont know if I want to take her to the vet just yet because it does seem to be retracting with time, but at the same time I dont want to wait too long if there isnt a method of treatment that I can do myself. Any suggestions from someone with experience would be great. Thanks | ||
