Hey Jeremy, I know we've covered this topic before. I still disagree a little. I fully agree that the pattern is going to be random and you will never be able to predict with any certainty what will be produced. However, from what we've seen...and the numbers are HUGE with everyone breeding hypos and salmons....the salmon trait will throw reduced or abberant patterned animals more often than the orange-tail/gee line hypos. Again, they can both do it, so can a normal. I'd be over a barrel trying to explain the hypo arabesque x motley breeding keeping the pattern. It seems like most hypo arabesques have had lousy arabesque patterns. NOT ALL....but most! The last time we discussed this it was dealing with salmontines I believe. I still think had Mike used a hypo originally over a salmon, the argentine pattern MAY have been more prevelant from the onset of that project. The tendency toward reduced patterns that we've seen in salmons is one reason we chose orange tail hypos for our sunglow projects. Does it make a bit of difference? We THINK it does, but it's all just a matter of opinion based upon everyones own experience anyway. This is all just my opinion, so don't take it as anything more.
