I would say this is done basically the same way a hypo is distinguished from a normal. If you look at the tail blotches past the vent you will notice the difference. When comparing a hypo to a normal, in the case of a hypo it is apparent that most if not all of the tail blotches past the vent are not boardered in black. When comparing a snow to a moonglow you are pretty much looking for the same thing. If the tail blotches past the vent all have an outline (would be black but in this case it will be an alternate shade of white) then it is a snow. If you look closely at the pictures posted you will see that many of the tail blotches after the vent have no boarder, thus distinguishing it as a moonglow not a snow.
