If climate allows, jacksons chameleons should always be kept outside. If you live on the Southern California coast, you may keep them outside year round. My Seal Beach colony thrives outside. However, if you live inland, say the Riverside area, the weather is too extreme, and you need to be more careful. Basically, they can comfortably handle a temperature range between 45 and 85 degrees (and even push those lows a little lower). They appreciate an overnight temperature drop, and there's a thriving population of jacksonii living free in the Palos Verdes area of So Cal. It's a climate almost as perfect as Hawaii for jacksons.
