They are basically couch potatoes when not eating. It's not too much trouble really ...you go through the weekly shipment of crickets so fast when they are babies they don't stay around long enough to worry about later. I had 2 I hatched from eggs...was going through roughly a thousand 1/8 inch crickets a week for the first 2 months (& that was in addition to several vials of fruit flies I was culturing). Then cut that amount almost by half once they got up to 1/4" since as the size of the crix got bigger the amount needed to stuff their bellies got smaller. Also, usually by the time they are 3 months old they have started reguarly eating greens and veggies which cuts a lot of the cricket need down. Now they only get about a dozen adult crickets a week....the rest is vegetarian. (Their parents get maybe a dozen crickets every other week). The high amount of food a baby beardie needs is one reason why beginners are often recommended to not start out with one that is younger than 3-4 months ....expensive as hell otherwise. ----- _____
