There are only 13 colubrids in the study, and seven of those are members of Elaphe--a much larger sample is needed to get any idea of the phylogenetic relationships of Elaphe to other genera. And, without knowing what seven Elaphe he chose (unfortunately the biology library here at IU doesn't carry Acta Zoologica Sinica), he may well have chosen taxa that are all within one of the subsections of Elaphe split off by Utiger et al. | ||
