Information please on the hypo gene?

It is said that the hypo gene is originally a Panamanian gene. Did nature make this gene come into Colombia a long time ago, or did one of us herpers do it in a more recent timeframe? We all know panama ans Colombia are adjacent. Does anyone know for sure how the hypo gene came to Colombia?
