The Salmon/Orangetail genetic trait that we refer to as "hypo" is a naturally occuring trait in several locales of Central American B.c.i. they were bred to captive B.c.i.,most of which were Colombian...although Panama is very close geographiclly,to Colombia,I am not aware of any such mutation being reported in any animals imported from that country.(the original "salmon",and "orangetail"animals used in early breeding trials are presumed, and reported to have come from Panamanian stock,to the best of anyone's knowledge.)
