Courting question

We introduced our male to our female yesterday. We've not seen tail locking, or anything close to it, more just him laying around on top of her (what my husband describes as "cuddling". Is this normal beginning courting behavoir, or maybe our male just isn't good at it yet? Is there anything else we should be looking for? Here is a picture we took this morning while checking temps, neither their head or their tails are aligned.
