I have two pastel female hatchlings that hatched on May 20.
I decided to feed one only mice and the other only rats. I have fed them at the same intervals and both are strong feeders. I have fed them approximately the same meal size in weight at each feeding.
The results:
The mouse eater has a current mass of 672 g (at ~4 1/2 months old)
The rat eater has a current mass of 643 g (at ~4 1/2 months old)
They are both huge and healthy, however it has cost me a little more to feed the mouse eater as she gets bigger (1 medium rat = $3 is equivalent to 3-4 mice = $4.50).
So there it is, it at least this really small sample size experiment, there is no difference between feeding rats and mice. ----- when life hands you lemons, make super lemons, bumblebees, etc...
