I had the same concern - I spoke with Scott about it and he said that there just isn't enough traction on the panels for the snake to get enough leverage to move the tub out of place. I have some snakes that have been trying but have not yet succeeded in getting out - I've even left the tub just slightly esque and watched to see if they could find their way out. As long as you are careful to push the tub back into the rack - you shouldn't have any problems with escapes.

I also found that the rack does some shifting after you've gotten all the animals in so once that occurs - you will probably have to re-tighten the bolts.

For tub gap issues - you can always cut or file down the spacers to fit your tubs better - will probably help with the sliding you are concerned about also. If you still have concerns you can probably contact Vision for some more stops and Scott can probably walk you through some ideas to get your rack set up the best way for you.
