try getting a male from a smaller type (Central American) or dwarf (island boas, tarahumara, leopard etc.) so it will stay smaller. Aim for a snake that won't grow to more than 5 or 6 feet maximum. They say that corns kings and garters make the best first snake, but I think you could have a boa is you do your homework first, and learn as much about them as you possibly can. Get your cage all set up in advance and make sure the temperatures and humidity are right BEFORE you bring home your boa. make sure you can monitor these thinsg with two thermometers one for each side of the cage and a humidity meter. Be sure your parents approve in advance too.
