I own a pet store an have people who stop in all the time and ask this same question. Most of which are spending $7-$10 for a bone(the 3rd or 4th of the week) for a dog they spend $1000 for and just got back from spending $50 for a haircut and shampoo and possibly spending the extra $10 to have there nails painted. This ritual being done monthly. I in turn will ask them why they are willing to spend that kind of money over and over on there pet; in which they usually respond "but I love my baby"....My response to them is, do you think I love my baby's less you then you love yours? The less intelligent will usually still try to argue with me but most will see the point and understand. Snakes are pets too and deserve the same respect.
