As I said, he's clueless and doesn't know what he's talking about. Chamaeleo calyptratus is the scientific name for the Veiled Chameleon and they are a tropical species. The desert thing is an old wives tale. your cham is extremely dehydrated. it needs to be taken out of a desert enclosure and its hydration addressed immediately.
