I had a ball python several years ago (has since passed on, escaped during winter months, his 2nd escape during his 5 yrs. with us. It is very cold where I live, and he wasn't able to adapt to the extreme temperature drop. sad) However, Blade (name), had a very friendly and affectionate nature that extended past the human members of our household. I also had a white long-haired cat, Missy, that seemed very interested in blade. She would sit or lay, even sleep, by his cage for hours, so I decided to see what the reaction might be if they were to physically "meet". It was one truly unexpected, as the cat would lie still while Blade crawled along beside her, and even climbing on her, neither ever making a move to harm the other. Missy would even purr as blade would smell her, and rest his head beside her. I continued to allow the two animals to socialize with one another, and I never had a reason for alarm, as they appeared to get along wonderfully. I have even watched them sleeping next to one another (well, I don't exactly know if the snake was sleeping, but he was calm and the cat was sleeping.) I had some pics on an old computer, very cute, though I am not sure if I can find them again. I would like to post a few if I can locate them. Anyways, has anyone ever heard of a snake and a cat, or other combination for that matter, hitting it off like that? It was a very interesting experience.
