Easiest going snake?

What kinds of snakes don't get too big, aren't poisonous, and are friendly and don't mind being handled?
I'm hoping to start an education and awareness program on reptiles and amphibians to educate people on the importance of research and set-up for "pets" before buying them.
Right now I'm thinking either a corn or a gardner??
