yes for babies chopping things up finely and taking the large veins out of the leafy veggies is a good idea, the carrots can just be shredded, they should be an alright size, as well as the sweet potato. The daily salad should consist of dark leafy greens like collard greens, endive, escarole, dandelion, and turnip tops, then you can add variety with mustard greens, swiss chard, carrots, squash etc, and a small amount of fruit if you like a couple times a week as a treat.
for a baby dust with calcium with D3 one feeding daily, i dust with a mulitivitamin for babies 2 times weekly and for adults once weekly with calcium every other day.
rocks- i went out to the desert for mine, great flat ones out there, then soaked in sudsy ammonia scrubbed and disinfected. You can get them at masonary supply places in small peices, sometimes for free as they are parts that have broken off. Rocks from outside are fine, just be sure to disinfect them very well.
sexing, well sometimes some babies will show very well what sex they are, i have a 7 inch fellow that you can plainly tell, he is definatly a HE. and then i had carrick who i couldnt tell until 3-4 months his sex for sure, some of them are difficult.
hope that helps a little bit would love to see some pics of the little "fellow"
>>O.K. Here come the questions like you said they would. lol
>>Feeding: Everything needs to be chopped up finely? And how small? If I shred carrots, do I need to soften them? Or just leave them raw? Sweet potato, same thing as carrots? How often do you feed fruits? Just occasionally? Or add just a small amount daily with their greens? How often do you calcium dust? 3x's a week sufficient?
>>Housing: Where do you find rocks? Just use large cobble stones? (disinfected of course)
>>And this may seem like an ignorant question, but how can you tell if they are happy? I just want to do this all right.
>>Oh yeah, he has an appointment for his first check up on Friday.
>>One more, sorry, how old do they have to be before you can reliably sex them? He doesn't have a name yet, and we're waiting to see just what "he" is first.
>>Thanks everyone for your help.
