Sounds like he's a pretty stressed out little snake. I'd look for ways to reduce stress. For example, is he in a cage by himself? Does he have a nice, tight box to shelter in?

And might he be too stressed to drink? If so, putting him in a plastic box with an inch or so of water on the floor for half an hour might help.
