I have exactly the same problem! In fact I was thinking about posting it.
My AC went out in the beg of summer and I went several weeks with my place getting to 80 degrees because it was between 95 and 100 outside (I'm in colorado btw)
The cage my beardie is in is large and thus the outer edges and his cave (I made it out of real rock btw the basking area is on top... there is like a 30 degree difference between top and bottom... amazing what 1 inch of rock can do....)
are basicatly room temp. so if it's 70 in my condo it's 70 in the cave and far courners of the cage... but the rest of the cage is between 80 and 120 (RIGHT under the basking light... didn't know it got that high until I got a digital therm. but move it a few inchs and it drops... most of the basking area is at 110) he rarely chooses to go right under the light though. He has plenty of area to choose where he wants to be.
ANYWAY on the 26th of july I got a new AC. He was acting weird and acctually threatened me... I figured because there were 3 strange people in the condo makeing lots of noise. the next day he was calmer and I took him outside and treated him to some waxworms (I normally just feed him greens and rep-cal pellots... and vits sometimes... I rarely give insects...)
But then he started slowing down eating... then stopped... and now he has done his last poop and has been hideing in his cave. He looks at me when I open the door and is otherwise healthy (I just took him to the vet 2 months ago)
SO should I change his lighting at all?
Btw ... as to the weigh bit... (if I can get him out of the cave) uh isn't it normal for beardeis to lose SOME weight in hibernation? I know he did last year ... I can't remember how much though. He decided to hibernate last year at the end of october... right before he turned one. I paniced becaue he was not full grown. He gaindd about 60 grams after comeing out of hibernation though and weighs over 400. (not sure exactly would have to look at last vet messure) I DO have a scale now so I don't have to take him to the vet for that. But I'd feel better if I didn't have to worry about him... so I am glad someone else is experenceing this. (He is my first beardie btw)
