In the UK & Europe, everyone that owns one has to have the animals micro chipped (by 15 months old) & in be in possession of the specimen specific paperwork that accompanies the animals. So we can't avoid not knowing!
I agree, they are underrated. Beautiful snakes. Temperaments are actually fine with all adults I own. If they fall off a branch or whatever they get cranky, so you just leave them alone for a few minutes to cool down. Mainly they are hissers and bluffers. I've heard of the odd few that do this well and know they do it well enough, that they tend to back it up with strikes! lol.
I only handle mine infrequently, to get them out of their enclosure during feeding or to separate them when introductions are being made. I never have to man handle the female to introduce to the male, that particular pair seem to be fond of each other! I just open the females enclosure, wait until her nose is pressed on the glass of the males enclosure and open it for her. Surely is every mans dream to find a partner so keen? lol!
Young Argies don't seem to 'tame' down until they are around a year old. Atleast, that's been my experience. Wishing you all the best with getting them to do the deed.
