Yeah, I have heard that before but never noticed it in my colonies. Odd!!
I clean all tubs on Wednesdays, no washing, just dump out old litter and scrape off anything that sticks with a 6" putty knife. To clean, I fill a new tub with bedding and transfer the mice from old tub to new tub. I do seperate out the really prego females into communal birthing tubs. After all tubs are cleaned, I add females to the males tubs (as many litters as I want to start. This really allows me to control when litters come very closely. For example I have a show in two weeks so with a little thinking ahead, I started extra females and will have a bunch of pinkies/fuzzies/hoppers for the show. They always sell really well and pay for a good portion of the vendor fees. ----- Thanks,
Dave Colling
