Aspen

aren't sani-chips basically really small chips of aspen? Or do they have pine mixed in?

I use aspen shavings for all of my snakes (except the baby BRB, she gets cypress mulch) because it's super cheap and easy to clean, plus it's easier (for me) than newspaper. I've never had a problem with it...
