And he stated that Male ball pythons are regularly bred in their first year (6 months of age). 500 grams is usually all it takes for a male ball to start to reproduce. Alot of people have sucess even smaller than that (Steve Gooch, for example, produced clutches with his spider ball at approx 350 - 400 grams.
