I have seen pythons ovulate very early at the beginig of winter before. Not exactly sure why. You don't want to miss her window of oppurtunity. The problem is that males may not be interested in breeding yet. ANy time I have seen a female ovulate early and not breed until later in the winter, the clutches were small with lots of slugs.
