I agree, there's much more involved with hybrids than simply putting two snakes together and winding up with viable young. Even the hybrids we have now come from as many failures as sucesses. It's certainly not cut and dry.
As to the dog/wolf crosses, these happen in nature because they are commonly found in the same geographic vicinity making that cross fairly easy to happen, yes? Most of the snakes in question come from different areas of the world, so are aren't likely to meet in the wild. Just my thoughts.
