Tegu cages need to be pretty large in order to allow sufficient substrate depth. Plan for this carefully so you can have a cage that can fit into your home, around corners, down/up stairs, and through a doorway into the room where it will be kept.
Don't sacrifice the viewing area too much, which seems to be common in large lizard cages.
Decide how you want the cage to look and how much you're willing to spend to get that look. Also decide what your main priority is for building it yourself. Is it to save money? Or are you trying to make an attractive cage? Or are you trying to make a light cage?
All of those are reasonable answers, but it can get a bit difficult when you try to combine all three. ----- Current snakes:
0.0.1 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Java locale (green)
1.2 Gonyosoma oxycephala - Jave local (green)
2.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Seleyar locale (all black)
1.2 Gonyosoma janseni - Celebes locale (Black & Tan)
