Chompers is one of Squirle's three babies hatched in 2004.
Chompers is so name because of his voratious appetite and the way he would act when you approached his aquariaum he lived in when he was younger. No finger is safe in his path, he could have easily been named "Jaws".
Chompers is in the top photo, his unnamed sibling is next. There is a third sibling who is very small and would not hold still enough for me to get a good photo of him/her.
The bottom two photos are of Yertle's two babies born in 2004.
I was photographing them on Tuesday (75 degrees and I was in shorts and a tshirt) because I am putting them and another clutch in a new habitat and I wanted to try and be able to tell who was who. Or at least who came from what mother.
I had them in their new habitat on the deck with some three toed juvies, but decided to bring them in on Wednesday since
I had seen them eating worms they found. So I'll put them out in late winter when we have a mild enough week.
Note: the three toeds stayed out, they were well buried by Wednesday afternoon, because three toeds seem to have more sense about not eating when winter is approaching.
