I use Aspen beeding. It allows them to burrow, doesn't swell when it gets wet, and it doesn't chew the snakes nose up. Some people say to use Orchid bark, but that does chew up there nose, and it doesn't allow for easy burrowing. While easier to clean, I prefer the Aspen. The other thing is, you can use newspaper, they can still cover themselves with that, though you lose the naturalistic look. Anyways, Aspen is the best. Here's some pictures of mine.
